The canton of Zurich examined the acceptance of higher densities of people and buildings in districts as part of a long-term spatial development strategy (LaRES). A representative population survey showed the conditions under which respondents are willing to accept higher densities. 
Based on the results of this study, an interdisciplinary team developed recommendations for the long-term spatial planning strategy of the Canton of Zurich.
